MEDIA.MONKS, META CREATIVE SHOP

Pandora & Disney collaborated on a new line of Star Wars jewelry and came to Media.Monks to help launch it. Due to the COVID restrictions, most stores were closed, so they were looking for a way to connect with consumers where they were spending most of their time in lockdown: on social.

We created 3 fun and interactive AR filters which we launched through an influencer campaign to drive engagement. The filters are representative of the light side and the dark side of the force giving the users the chance to become one of the characters. The AR filters when found as ADs led to a Messenger experience, where users were able to look for more info and get upcoming news on the Star Wars Pandora line.

In parallel, we developed an AR in-store experience to let the shoppers take part in the experience.

Creative Direction

My role was to conceive, design and oversee the whole project. I set up the general Art Direction of the AR filters and the in-store experience.

I conceived the core mechanic and the key interactions of the AR in-store experience, designed the UX and UI, and oversaw the entire production process leading a team of 3D artists and developers.

INSTORE EXPERIENCE

Due to the COVID restrictions kept going over the year, this part of the project has been parked and never saw the light, unfortunately.

This experience was designed and built using Spark AR and the brand new AR Desktop Player which allowed to connect store screens to display the live AR effect, as long as it has a webcam connected. The idea was to use the experiences at store windows to get people's attention and as store driver.

USE THE FORCE, LUKE!

The concept behind the experience was to recreate the scene from The Empire Strikes Back, to see the users impersonating  Luke Skywalker practicing with The Force.

By raising their hand, they need to virtually 'touch' all the charms that are appearing on the screen to lift the X-Wing out from the water.

When they fail, the spaceship drops back into the swamp.

Yoda is there to support and guide the users as they raise the X-Wing and successfully learn to control The Force.
