Meta knows it cannot build the Metaverse alone.
So, they partnered with Media.Monks and creators from the Meta Spark Studio community to build three unique experiences for the “Made by all of us” campaign.

Through QR codes on billboards in LA, SF and NYC, users could influence the artworks and add elements, thereby creating their own unique experience—just like the creators did.

This out-of-home interactive AR campaign was completely inspired by the creators’ imagination. Each experience invited users to play an active role, from plunging underwater with undiscovered sea creatures to creating their own galaxy to adding their very own butterfly to a butterfly migration. Users can add elements to the environment to contribute and create their own version or change shapes/colors of some of the elements to add their own interpretation.

Creative Direction

My role was to conceive the user flow and the themes of the AR experiences, help finding the right talents/creators for the campaign and managing their creative vision by guiding them bringing their Metaverse ideas into the AR environment.

I defined the core mechanic and the key interactions, designed the UX and oversaw the entire production process leading a team of 3D artists, illustrators, designers and developers.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Production
The project took around 3 months to build. With a team of more than 20 people spread out across 3 continents, we designed 9 billboards in LA, SF and NYC, and 3 full immersive world experiences in Spark AR.
Challenges
We had to make sure to keep the high visual standards of the creators within the strict limitations of the Spark AR platform, connecting the billboards visuals to the AR experiences in a seamsless way as possible. We also had to simplify the interactions to the bones to make the experience compelling and user friendly to allow anyone to experience it. Due to the size of the billboards, we had to design them to be conforming to the guidelines and make sure they were trackable during any light/weather conditions.
Results
The project has been recoginsed with a SOTD on FWA.
