Enlisted on FWA’s scouts team. Yeah.

by teoross on 09/4/2012

Good news. I’ve been included on FWA’s scouts team.

I’m glad to collaborate with Rob Ford and his team. I hope to help find good projects to be exposed and awarded.

Feel free to share with me your links: I’ll be very happy to take a look.

My “must read” books.

by teoross on 05/20/2012

  1. Velocity: The Seven New Laws for a World Gone Digital Link )
By Ajaz Ahmed (AKQA), Stefan Olander (NIKE).
An amazing book about what’s going on in the “modern” life and, if you will read well, in the future… written like a dialogue of two friends.
  2. My Name is Charles Saatchi and I am an Artoholic Link )
    By Charles Saatchi
This man, trough his disarming and sometimes brutal frankness, explains things that sometimes everyone need to understand, sooner or later. An enlightening  account of one of the most influential person of our time.
  3. Things I have learned in my life so far Link )
    By Stefan Sagmeister
Sagmeister uses his own learnings and converts them into magic. You turn the pages and your mind begins to fill up with images and words and ideas you never thought existed. My favourite? “Thinking life will be better in the future is stupid. I have to live now.” So true, isn’t it?
  4. How to Be a Graphic Designer without Losing Your Soul Link )
    By Adrian Shaughnessy
I’m an Art Director, but obviously I started as Graphic designer. When I’ve read this book, sometimes I laughed and sometimes got me angry. If you want to work in any area of graphic design or similar (yes, also video, interactivity and copywriting) you have to read this.
  5. Craft of Copywriting Link )
    By Alastair Crompton
Has nothing to do? A lot instead. Sometimes in this job you have to explain your ideas and often you have to work with someone else. Trust me: also if you are a super Art Director or graphic designer or everything else, you can always learn from copywriting.
  6. Wall and PieceLink )
    By Bansky
A real mix of Copywriting and Art Direction in one single genius. It’s really inspirational for me.
  7. The App and Mobile Case Study Book Link )
    By Rob Ford (FWA)
In a world of “how to” guides, this books are the best you can choose to read. Simple and concise, this is a real snapshot of how agencies face their own projects.
Very helpful when your ideas are lazy to come out. Focused on App and Mobile.
  8. The internet case study book ( Link )
By Rob Ford (FWA), Julius Wiedemann (TASCHEN)
Featuring 60 success stories, from clients’ briefings to final projects, this book provides detailed studies divided into five chapters: e-Commerce, Corporate Sites, Campaigns, Social Media, and Promotional Sites. Very helpful when your ideas are lazy to come out.
  9. Guidelines for Online Success Link )
By Rob Ford (FWA), Julius Wiedemann (TASCHEN)
Have you ever wondered why your websites didn’t quite match up to the success of your competitors or peers? Have you ever looked at other sites and thought: “Why didn’t I think of that?” Have you ever spent too much time trying to find basic information that was buried deep in a needlessly complex website? You are certainly not alone and this book aims to change that by bringing together some of the world’s most highly acclaimed designers and developers, spanning every continent, all of whom share their knowledge and experience. Very helpful when your ideas are lazy to come out.
  10. Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type WorksLink )
    By Erik Spiekermann, E.M Ginger
Typography today is fundamental. You have to know how to use it in the right way in all your projects (and in all medias).  In a world where everyone think to be a graphic designer, this man gives the right approach to this complex discipline.
  11. Calvin and HobbesLink )
    By Bill Watterson
Humor, humor, humor. You cannot live happy without it. Helps your job and your life.  And Calvin and Hobbes makes me die laughing.
